CAREER EXPLORATIONS – NEW YORK CITY INTERNSHIP DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

Type: Full-time

Pay Range: $50,000 - $70,000+ Per Year

Career Explorations (CE) is a boutique executive recruiting firm that focuses on college and high school students. At the core, CE helps employers connect with young, motivated students that are interested in working alongside professionals in exchange for gaining real work experience. CE currently runs all-inclusive internship programs in New York City, Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco. As part of these programs, CE procures internships in dozens of industries in order to provide our clients with highly customized internship opportunities. CE is looking for a resourceful and motivated candidate to run internship procurement and candidate matching for our well established CE New York City Program. The job responsibilities include:

NYC INTERNSHIP PROCUREMENT – a core aspect of the NYC City Internship Director position is lining up internships in the NYC area. Strong existing ties in the NYC community are highly preferred, as is strong networking experience and an enthusiasm for meeting new people. This is a job that requires persistence and a genuine passion for learning about other people as well as a passion for learning about and understanding job functions across diverse industries.

• Responsible for developing NYC internship opportunities for both HS & College Programs

• Set up meetings, identify decision maker, pitch CE service, and lock down commitments

• Stay in contact with CE internship partners

• Become an expert on NYC hiring trends, industry knowledge, and CE internship portfolio

• Attend a significant number of evening and weekend networking events

NYC APPLICANT FINAL SALES & ONBOARDING – the NYC Internship Director covers the final round of the sales process and conducts interviews with program applicants in order to understand applicants’ interests and to provide appropriate customized internships.

• Speak with pre-screened leads to ‘close the deal’

• Hold applicant interviews

• Manage expectations and properly vet CE internship opportunities

NYC INTERNSHIP MATCH – the NYC Internship Director is responsible for matching clients enrolled in the NYC program with appropriate internships based on the client’s areas of interest. This process requires creativity and exceptional organizational, planning, and time management skills.

• Coach applicants through matching process

• Match applicants with customized internship

• Facilitate introduction between applicant and employer

NYC SUMMER OPERATIONS– the NYC Internship Director is overseeing operational aspects for both the high-school and college programs in NYC during the summer. Separate summer coordinators run the actual program, but the NYC Internship Director provides support and internship oversight during the program.

• Oversee summer operations and two New York City Summer Coordinators

• Handle summer internship issues

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED BY CE - CE is a fast growing company and as we continue to grow, new responsibilities and challenges will emerge.

• Sales Support: Attend local client recruiting opportunities as needed

Compensation

- $50,000-$70,000+ cash compensation depending upon achievement of 1st year accountabilities.

1st Year Accountabilities:

- Line up internships with 100+ companies in NYC/Manhattan

- Achieve high level of satisfaction with clients as measured by post-program survey

- Achieve high level of satisfaction with companies as measured by post-program survey

- Successfully oversee NYC summer program operations for high-school and college students

Qualifications:

1) Integrity: Must exhibit the highest levels of honesty and integrity

2) Entrepreneurial: This is a position for an autonomous, passionate, high-energy, and highly-motivated candidate who is excited about working within a fast-growing organization.

3) Networking and ties to the NYC Community: Ideally went to high school or college in NYC and has strong ties to the local community.

4) Education: college degree required at minimum.

5) Personal Characteristics: highly self-motivated, focused on long-term success, detail-oriented, professional yet friendly, adaptable to changing situations, an appreciation for excellence, and a passion for providing our clients with impactful experiences is essential for success.

6) Computer Skills: willingness to work with innovative technologies and a strong comfort level with computers, especially excel.

7) Exceptional Communication Skills. Very strong verbal, written, and presentation skills are a must for this position.

- CE offices are on the Upper East Side in Manhattan, and the NYC Internship Director will work out of our offices.

Compensation: $50,000-$70,000 cash compensation depending on performance, health benefits, retirement benefits, company computer and cell phone included.
